The Arts are often the first to be cut, sometimes because they are misunderstood as extras and not seen as the vital tools for boosting learning, critical thinking and innovation that they really are. â€‹â€‹

The time is now right to re-imagine Arts & Tech in education and we are excited to be launching our e2e Education Hub!

This September 2025: We are running a BTEC Level 1/2 Tech Award in Creative Media Production for young people aged 13-18, designed to run alongside your options at school or college, outside of the normal school day.

This is a brilliant qualification for young people interested in taking a hands-on course alongside their GCSEs that will offer them an insight into what it is like to work in the Creative Media sector – transecting many exciting and vibrant industries such as film, television, sports journalism, website and games development, radio, sound, print and publishing. This will give students an introduction that keeps all of their options open and allows them to make an informed decision about their future learning and career, whilst adding a stand out feature to their CV!

Key aspects of our BTEC Tech Award in Creative Media Production:

This qualification takes a fully practical and skills-based approach to learning and assessment, with no written exam. Usually studied over two years, we are offering this course over four terms, stating in September 2025. All components, including the externally assessed synoptic component, are assessed through engaging, open, and flexible set tasks, designed to stimulate creative ideas without restricting the type or direction of learner response.

Specific areas of study may include:

  • Film and Television Production: Understanding camera operation, lighting, audio recording and editing.

  • Digital Media: Creating interactive content, designing websites and games, social media posts and reels.

  • Graphic Design: Developing visual communication, creating logos and branding, and producing print materials.

  • Sports Journalism: Reporting on sport; considering the audience perspective.

  • Audio Production: Learning about sound recording, mixing and mastering.

  • Animation: Creating short films using different animation techniques, including voice-over.

  • Location Filming: Experience filming on location, using our outside broadcast unit OBU.

Levels and Equivalencies:

  • This BTEC Level 1/2 is equivalent to a full GCSE.

This Tech Award complements the learning in GCSE programmes such as Maths, English, Media Studies, Art and Design, Design and Technology and Computer Science. It will enable learners to develop sector-specific skills and knowledge of the production processes and techniques that underpin them, across a range of media products using a combination of practical exploration, experimentation, and realistic vocational contexts.

This course will also develop key skills such as investigating and developing ideas through pre-production, production, and post-production, managing their creative projects, documenting progress of skills and work, responding to briefs, presenting work, and reflective practice. In addition, learners develop employability skills such as teamwork, time management and communication.

On this course, you will:

  • learn about the sector and investigate media products across the sub-sectors

  • develop technical skills and techniques in the chosen discipline(s) of audio/moving image, publishing and interactive.

  • apply digital skills and techniques by responding to a digital media brief.

This qualification is delivered by two experienced specialist tutors who have worked in both education and media organisations, backed by an extensive range of facilities and equipment, with links to creative industries. From broadcast cameras to green screen work, social media, and basic marketing techniques, this course offers a great practical introduction to the dynamic world of modern digital media.

Why study with end2end TV CIC?

You will not find this course offered in quite the same way anywhere else. From our outstanding facilities, exciting course content and fantastic opportunities for young people to work both individually and with friends, to an excellent student tutor ratio (maximum 9:1) and links with industry; the teaching and learning activities will provide learners with the opportunities to engage in an ongoing process of review throughout a media production, rather than a retrospective review after a production is complete. This better reflects real practices in media industries. Young people will have greater autonomy, achieve deeper learning and enjoy memorable experiences in a dynamic, professional studio space. This will boost learning, confidence and essential problem solving and critical thinking skills across other subject areas too.
